Today Wednesday january 9th the awards ceremony of the II Prize Jane Goodall of conservation biology and environmental ethics, will take place at 20 h. in the city of Alicante from the AU headquarters. The award-winning, Carmen Vidal, who develops its work in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, will give a lecture on his work, entitled "strategies for the conservation of biodiversity and sustainable development through education and training of communities: experiences in South Kivu (Democratic Republic of the Congo)"

Mycology field trip cancellation (Thursday 6th-8th september). Due to a recent forest fire and the extreme heat and drought we have cancelled this activity of the meeting. On wednesday (5th september) we will display fungal specimens collected last autumn from the Mariola mountains that have been kept frozen.

The MIES researchers conclude that, thanks to a genetic research, eight black foxes found so far in the natural park of the Sierra de Mariola, only in Spain, are the result of a mutation of spontaneous origin.
In the program "Españoles por el Mundo" which aired the first chain of TVE Tuesday, January 24, 2012 and tried to Senegal, are images of the projects of the Instituto Jane Goodall Spain (IJGE) in Dindefelo, presented by Ferrán Guallar, President of the IGJE, and Liliana Pacheco, researcher of the IJGE, and with participation of Neus Stela, student scholarship by the chair Jane Goodall in the call for 2011.

The reserva marina de Tabarca celebrates its 25th anniversary. One of the performances has spent years waiting for the island of Tabarca is the removal of debris that have accumulated in certain sectors of the island since tens of years ago. Ecologists in action of the Valencian country has taken the initiative, in collaboration with the IMEM, the Directorate General of coasts and the municipalities of Alicante and Santa Pola, in the Organization of volunteer students from the University of Alicante and sensitized citizens, for cleaning and improves environmental of this unique place removing debris that degrade the coastal landscape.
The next weekend, September 23-25, from Friday to Sunday, 27 volunteers participate in this activity, combined with a talk about the reserve Navy, visit Museum and tour with glasses and tube to get to know the values of this jewel of the Mediterranean.
MIES Ramon Margalef, aware of the need to act on the conservation of the environmental values of the Mediterranean coast, has wanted to participate in the dissemination and subsidization of this activity.

The Lecture Series on Environmental Impact Assessment and Conservation in the Mediterranean territory ended May 18 with the conference "Sacred Natural Sites Maghreb Landscape: socio-ecological values and conservation perspectives," by Dr. Lahcen Taiqui, University of Tetuan, Morocco.
Tabarca Is integrated inside the international project Piccole Isole, that in Spain develops it the Spanish Society of Ornithology (CATHEDRAL) and, in Alicante, the local group of this association. The University of Alicante takes part through the of the Department of Ecology and the Institute Ramon Margalef and realises the analysis of data. It explains the professor Germán López, representative of the UA in this activity, that already comes realising during the two last years and that the new campaign of this year is in his his beginnings.

-raising funds for education and conservation programs in Congo as the Recovery Center Chimpanzees Jane Goodall Institute in Tchimpounga. There are caring for chimpanzees rescued more than 140, and carry out sustainable development programs with the local community.
